Switching

Outgrown Toast? Coming from Lightspeed or Square? We've moved operators.

14 days to move your catalog, integrations, customers, and as much sales history as your old vendor releases. Parallel run on both systems until you're sure. No lock-in.

The honest reasons

Why operators switch.

We hear these every week. Toast, Lightspeed and Square aren't bad products — they're just shaped for a different operator than you are now.

01

Marketplace add-ons cost more than the POS.

Olo, Otter, Deliverect stacked on top of Toast — marketplace handling becomes the biggest line in your software bill. We integrate marketplaces directly. One bill.
02

Per-module fees that stacked up over years.

A feature you turned on in year one becomes a line item in year three. Loyalty, online ordering, gift cards, scheduling, multi-location reporting — each charged separately. Our pricing is one number per location.
03

Hardware lock-in.

A drawer of proprietary handhelds you can't replace without buying from the vendor. We run on standard iPads and standard Android — same hardware most kitchens already have.
04

Payment-processing lock-in.

Your POS holds your money, so your processor rate isn't really negotiable. We don't touch payments. Your POS tells your processor to charge. Switch processors without switching dojofood.
05

Support that vanished after the contract.

"Customer service is among the worst I have experienced" is a verbatim quote about a big-name POS. Whichever vendor you're on, you know the feeling. We answer in under 2 hours, working hours, named human.
06

The POS can't see the marketplaces.

If your Toast doesn't show Wolt, Bolt, Yemeksepeti or whichever apps you actually use, you're running two systems. That's the row of tablets. dojofood collapses it.
The data move

What we migrate. And what we can't always.

Toast, Lightspeed and Square each release data differently. Some give clean exports. Some give partial. Some give you a CSV that's been through five reshuffles. Here's the realistic version.

We move

Cleanly, in 14 days.

  • Catalog, categories, modifiers, allergens, prep times
  • Multi-location menu (every branch, every channel)
  • Floor plans and table layouts
  • Staff accounts and role-based permissions
  • Tax rates, receipt templates, your logo
  • Marketplace integrations — we re-sync your Wolt/Yemeksepeti/Trendyol IDs to the new menu
  • Customer data (where the source vendor exports it)
  • Historical sales as CSV — for reporting, not for re-running
Honest limits

What's not always portable.

  • Toast loyalty points — Toast doesn't release balances. We can import a CSV of customers but points reset.
  • Open tabs and pre-orders — we cut over on a quiet morning, not mid-service. Anything open stays on the old POS until closed.
  • Toast/Square gift cards — outstanding gift card balances need a manual reconciliation; we'll walk you through it.
  • Reservations on a third-party platform — OpenTable, Resy, SevenRooms keep their own data; we don't touch it.
  • Custom Toast reports — your old reports don't come over. Our reports are different. We'll set up the views you need on the first call.
The migration

Fourteen days, start to switch.

Two-week window. Most of it is data work and a parallel run. Cutover is one quiet morning.

Days 1-3 · export

We pull everything out of your old POS.

You give us read-access to Toast/Lightspeed/Square. We pull catalog, customers, sales history, integrations. You keep running on the old system. Nothing visible changes yet.
Days 4-6 · rebuild

We rebuild it inside dojofood.

Catalog mapped to our model. Modifiers grouped. Stations assigned. Floor plan rebuilt. Tax rates verified. You get a sandbox URL on Day 6 — log in and walk it before we touch anything live.
Days 7-9 · parallel

Parallel run. Both systems live.

For three to five days both POSes run. Some terminals on Toast, some on dojofood. We watch the data flow side by side. You find what's off; we fix it before cutover. This is the safety net.
Days 10-11 · training

Staff training. 24-48 hours.

Front-of-house: 60 minutes on the POS and waiter app. Kitchen: 30 minutes on the KDS. If they already used Toast or Lightspeed, half of it is intuitive — same patterns, fewer steps. We bring a printed cheat-sheet for the wall by the pass.
Days 12-13 · marketplaces

Marketplaces re-sync.

We coordinate with Wolt, Yemeksepeti, Bolt and Trendyol to repoint your menu sync at dojofood. Your store IDs stay the same. Customers don't see anything change.
Day 14 · cutover

Cutover. A quiet Tuesday morning.

We cut over before service. Toast goes read-only — kept available for 30 days so you can pull reports. dojofood takes the next ticket. Someone from our team is on a direct line for the first three nights. Anything wrong, we fix it while you're serving.
What we don't do (yet)

If you rely on these Toast features, read first.

Honest panel. If one of these is critical, talk to us before signing. We'd rather lose the deal than land you wrong.

Toast Capital / lending

  • We don't lend, period
  • If you have an active Toast Capital balance, that stays a Toast relationship
  • You can switch the POS and keep paying down separately

Built-in payroll / scheduling

  • We don't run payroll
  • We integrate with payroll tools you already use
  • Scheduling: basic shift view, not full workforce management

Toast guest profile / loyalty points

  • Customer records port; points balances don't (Toast doesn't release them)
  • Our loyalty is points-and-tier-based, not Toast-shaped
  • Rebuilds in our model; we'll walk you through what's different
Real concerns

Things operators actually ask.

Straight answers, not deflections.

Q1

What about my Toast hardware?

Most of it keeps working. We run on standard iPads, standard Android tablets, standard receipt printers (Star, Epson), standard kitchen printers. If your Toast hardware is the standard variety, it stays. If it's proprietary, we'll tell you on the demo call — and we'll source replacements at hardware cost, no markup.
Q2

What about my marketplace IDs?

We re-sync them. Your Wolt store ID, your Yemeksepeti chain ID, your Trendyol vendor account — they stay yours. We re-point the menu sync at dojofood. Customers don't see anything change. Reviews and ratings stay with your account.
Q3

What about my staff training time?

24 to 48 hours. If your team already used Toast, Lightspeed or Square, half of it is intuitive — same patterns, fewer steps. We bring a printed cheat-sheet for the wall by the pass. The KDS is the easiest piece (one screen, one button). The POS is the longest (45 minutes per person).
Q4

What about my historical reports?

Your historical sales come over as data, not as Toast reports. You'll have everything in CSV — every transaction back as far as Toast releases. The reports inside dojofood are different (better, in our opinion, but different). We rebuild your top 5 reports on the first call so the year-on-year compare doesn't break.
Q5

What if it doesn't work? Are we stuck?

No. Toast stays available read-only for 30 days. If dojofood doesn't fit your operation in the first 30 days, you've still got everything in Toast — no destructive cutover. We'd rather you go back than be the wrong vendor. Monthly billing. Cancel any month.
Q6

Can we keep our processor?

Yes. We don't touch payments. Whatever processor you use today — Stripe, Adyen, your local acquirer — keeps processing. The POS just tells it to charge. Switch processors later without switching dojofood.
If it doesn't work

The escape plan.

A switch this big needs an emergency exit visible from day one. Here's ours.

Parallel run
For 3-5 days both POSes are live. You're not committed until you say so.
30-day read-only
Toast stays available read-only for 30 days. Reports, exports, customer lookups — still there.
No lock-in
Monthly billing. No multi-year contract. No payment-processing lock-in. Cancel any month — your data exports out clean.

We'd rather lose the deal in week 3 than have a bad operator in year 2.
